Seasons Changing

Just as the leaves change with the seasons, so much we learn to adapt and dance with life’s new tune.

Once again it’s fall already! On this October the 9th we already have snow!! I am not ready for these changes but I know I will adapt with God’s help. Isn’t that how He calls us to approach every and all situations? Rest in His loving hands and cast all your cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7). I can barely believe I am over halfway into my 2nd year of recovery!

Progress seems to be coming, but it is very gradual. I am working very hard with my trainer and he keeps pushing me and pushing me to my limits. Lately, we have been ending each session with stretches and that really seems to be helping. I still am uncertain as if I will work again or even drive. For now that is the least of my worries. I know God will sustain me and provide everything I need.

By the way I failed to inform everyone that I received  the test results of my sleep test. They didn’t turn up anything! Praise God!!

The Independent Center & a gallery showing!

Several weeks ago I was presented with an opportunity by a fellow photographer and friend of mine. The opportunity; a chance to participate in a gallery showing in partner with the First Friday Art Walk hosted by “The Independent Center”. A non-profit that exists for the purpose of assisting and enabling folks with disabilities to be as independent as they can amongst the community.  They were seeking people with disabilities to participate.

At first I thought there was no way that I would be available with Dad’s retirement and activities going on. I however wanted to reach out and see what future possibilities would present themselves. I wrote a nice e-mail and attached a PDF copy of mt story.

I received a rather fast response, saying they would love to have me and were very touched by my story. They understood though that I was busy but if I wanted to drop off my art they would be willing to display it for me. I inquired if they were going to do this night again and they told me not likely. I thought about it and figured this may be a one time opportunity. Since they were already touched by my story what an even better chance to tell others what God has done in my life! I told them I would do my best to squeeze it into my already packed schedule.

I hired my friend Jay to do all the printing, matting, and framing for me so I wouldn’t be to stressed. Plus hiring a vet was something I was supportive of. They shipped directly to me and Thursday night I dropped them off for setup by experienced artists.

Last night September 1st was the official showing and I couldn’t have been more pleased at the opportunity and job done my everybody! Thanks to the very special individuals who came out it support of the event! I personally sold one print and was able to cover half of my service charges. More importantly I was able to hand out my story and hopefully inspire and encourage others by what God has done in my life. Still yet to tell if future opportunities will come out of this but blessed to partake in this event. 🙂

Wired Away

IMG_1643

Please excuse my lack of inactivity again. As they say though “No news is good news” I have been hard at work building on the progress I received from the Hyperbaric treatment. My trainer and I have faithfully been focusing on building my range of motion in my shoulder area + arm. Yes, people. This means the boxing gloves are out again and getting good use ;). We are also focusing on better flexibility in my hips. Progress is gradual but is there. Already my walking is better and we often begin each session by walking down a hallway and back several times without using the cane. I remain motivated and excited to see what God will do!

Relating to the cover photo; Last night I underwent a sleep test. My doctor had issued a sleep test for me awhile ago. The main focus being; it was just one more thing to rule out and to make sure there weren’t issues there that they were missing. It took us awhile to get it checked off the list, but we made an appointment.  There I was all wired and hooked up, excited to get this over with. (not as exiting as you thought lol)  Did I sleep? Hahaha 😉 ……….very little………. Nothing beats your own bed!   I finally dosed off for a little bit……Then of course it was time to wake up. One of the first questions I was asked (of course) was… “So how did you sleep”……i’m thinking…..ugh… that’s a joke right…

What fascinates me though, is how much information they can recover from very little sleep. It was rather interesting for me to hear about each individual function and reading they would get as I was hooked up. Though it was interesting I found myself a little annoyed feeling like a lab rat. Hopefully it will all be worth it.. even losing a few hours of sleep.

Thank You!

I want to humbly take a moment and say thank you.
As many of you know I spent all of June commuting back and forth from Louisville Colorado and receiving Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments twice a day! I was fortunate to make every single treatment on time and stay healthy.

I know without a doubt, it was a result of your many faithful prayers! I greatly appreciate it!
Thank you also to those who felt called to give financially. Simply said, I could not have done it without all of your help. From the bottom of my heart thank you! God Bless you!

Special thanks to Jazmen Draper & Ashley Dee for putting together and helping fundraise on behalf. What a blessing! Thank you ladies! To Mom & Dad who drove me back and forth all month long. Thank you!!

Treatment Results:
The biggest results of the treatment were; increased movement in my arm and shoulder area, my walking has improved, and small areas such as energy or numbness in my cheek has decreased.
Though I am not fully 100% , the treatment was a success. Now I must do my best to continue my therapy and workouts and improve on these noticeable results. The path is still unknown but I am ready to give my hardest devotion.

God is faithful and by His grace will sustain my every need.
-Isaiah 46:4 (NIV) I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Dare to Dive Deeper

Dive-Deeper-Graphic2 Timothy 1:7 -“For God did not give us a spirit of fear. He gave us a spirit of power and of love and of a good mind.”

As I prepare to start treatments tomorrow my mind can’t help but fathom all the goodness of God and the possibilities that might be in store. The excitement that awaits. Even if I am not fully healed, as I would like, my trust and confidence remains in Christ. That He will bring this around for His perfect glory.

The future remains unknown and staring down that tunnel it can often appear rather intimidating. For once I am ready to run full sprint down that tunnel and embrace whatever awaits. With Christ I can face anything!

Yet, it saddens me to think how many Christ followers remain in a state of timidity. Instead of answering God’s call to dive deeper, to enter a spirit of love, and of a good mind. Most prefer to play in safe, floating on the surface, (some frozen by fear) yet never willing to embrace the depths. The wonderful depths God has waiting for us, where we can only truly know Him more (often from living life with Him, through trials and mistakes.) Don’t live a life in timidity, don’t just live in complacency. Live the life God intended and made you for.  Don’t be a lion with a purr! Be a lion with a roar!

That is how I am facing this new adventure that lies ahead. Even with a sinus cold and feeling less then ok, I am confident that God will sustain me! I challenge you to dive deeper! Strap on that scuba gear and go to greater depths! You won’t be disappointed! Yes, you will face trials & tribulations, you will face times of uncertainty, but I dare you to find your identity in Christ! It’s so worth it!

I’m reminded of a song by Steven Curtis Chapman I grew up with “Dive”….

a0492cd5a5cff31bb84e17d4cf8dcea9

“I’m diving in, I’m going deep, in over my head I want to be
Caught in the rush, tossed in the flow, in over my head I want to go
The river’s deep, the river’s wide, the river’s water is alive
So sink or swim, I’m diving in”

If you have no idea what I am talking about but want to know more about this awesome God I served I’d love to hear from you and do my best to help answer your questions. Feel free to email me at bryanyork4@gmail.com  (bare with me on response time as I am going through treatments, I will reply when available though 🙂 )

Lastly, thank you so much for everyone who has donated https://lords-compassion-ministry.networkforgood.com/projects/28245-support-bryan and offered prayers or words of encouragement! Words are not enough to express how humbled and amazed I truly am!

The results are in!!

Bringing good news is imparting hope to one’s fellow man. The idea of redemption is always good news, even if it means sacrifice or some difficult times.” -Patti Smith

In my last post, you might recall that I mentioned I had a blood test done at my last doctors appointment. Well the results are finally in!!!

Yesterday I met with my primary doctor to go over the results………

HDL (Good Fats) was originally 23.        I was able to get it up to 33!

LDL (Bad Fats) was originally 100.         I was able to get it down to 78!

My liver and kidneys were fine! My blood sugar was right were it should be to.

The dieting I started (in September) and working out with a trainer has really paid off! All thanks to God!

Plans going forward are to stay on the eating plan and maybe add a few things back once in awhile. I plan to continue working with my trainer as long as I am able.

My next adventure is Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment starting June 5th. I am very thankful for my dear friend Jazmen for setting this fund page https://lords-compassion-ministry.networkforgood.com/projects/28245-support-bryan on my behalf. I am very humbled and so thankful for those who have given! Couldn’t do it without your help. God Bless. Also if you are curious and just want more information on what my treatments will look like, feel free to check out the link. 🙂

2 year mark!!!

Exactly 2 years ago to this day, I lay in the hospital . Fearful and confused as to what was happening to my body. Unknowingly I had gone through a mild stroke.(At 27)
2 years later I am still here on this earth thanks to God’s grace & mercy on my life. I am thankful for each breathe and thankful that I get to somehow influence you in same way or form. I am stronger and still getting better.
The last thing I want is to waste the time I am given. With each passing year I am reminded just how short life is and precious time is.
Thank you Jesus for life itself and being able to be a part of your perfect plan!
